This project is a hand-lettered map that reimagines the city of Chicago through a highly detailed, typographic lens. Tasked with creating a personal interpretation of a meaningful place, I chose to form each letter of the word “Chicago” using an intricate web of the city’s actual street grid. Within the custom letterforms, individual streets are carefully rendered and labeled, resulting in a piece that blends cartography with expressive lettering. The final artwork is both meticulous and concept-driven, celebrating the complexity and rhythm of the city’s layout while transforming it into a unified visual composition.
